17th FINA World Championships will be held in Budapest and Balatonfüred from July 14-30, 2017

One of the biggest sporting events in the world, in terms of participation and global exposure, the 2017 FINA World Championships is going to be the largest sporting showcase Hungary has ever hosted. Lining up almost 3,000 athletes in six different disciplines, competing in 75 contests over a period of 17 days, the FINA Championships will impose a huge challenge on its organisers, since the preparation period was curtailed to four years.

The competitions will take place in five iconic venues, each adding a special sparkle to the event. Swimming and diving are to be held in a brand new, state-of-the art complex, in the new wonder of Budapest. The Dagály Swimming Complex is going to be the main venue of the 2017 FINA World Championships, the construction of which is already considered an outstanding achievement, as it’s to be completed in less than two years, a record-breaking time.

Water polo athletes will entertain the crowds in the legendary Alfred Hajós (named after the first Olympic gold medal winner of Hungary) swimming complex on the Margaret Island, while temporary facilities will welcome the best synchronized swimmers at the outdoor ice rink next to Heroes Square and Vajdahunyad Castle.

High divers will compete alongside the river Danube, under Castle Hill, opposite to the magnificent building of the Parliament. Open water swimming will be held by, what is considered a paradise for OWS, Lake Balaton, in the beautiful city of Balatonfüred.

Tickets will be on sale through the upcoming months, so stay tuned! Until then, we wish everyone all the best and we look forward to having you all here in Budapest next summer!
