PR 3 - Athletes invited and calendar revealed for new top swimming event

FINA is pleased to announce that invitations were sent to National Federations with athletes selected for the first edition of the new FINA event, the “Champions Swim Series”.

45 male swimmers from 15 nations and 37 female competitors from 17 countries were formally invited to take part in the three-leg circuit.

The first event will take place in Guangzhou, China, on April 27-28; Budapest, the Hungarian capital, will follow on May 11-12; and Indianapolis, in the USA, will close this inaugural edition on May 31-June 1. All three meets will be swum in 50m-pool.

PR 2 - WPWL 2019: Russia and Italy take lead of respective group

The FINA Women's Water Polo World League 2019 resumed in Europe with the preliminary phase.

On January 9, Spain defeated Israel 13-6 in Netanya (ISR) (3-1, 3-1, 4-4, 3-0), while the Hungarians narrowly  won 14-13 against the Dutch on Saturday January 12 in The Hague (NED) (4-2, 3-2, 3-2, 0-4) after extra time (4-3).

PR 1 - FINA meets with NFs on Athlete participation in international competitions

Lausanne Swim Cup kicks-off in the Olympic Capital

Just days before the 2018 season comes to an end, the Lausanne Swim Cup officially got underway in the Olympic Capital for a two-day event, from December 20-12, which welcomes some of the world’s best swimmers as well as new comers in the sport.

Lausanne Natation Club President and Lausanne Swim Cup Organising Committee President Nicolas Balthasar welcomed the press and the local media who attended the press conference on December 19 at the Atlantis hotel in the north of Lausanne.

PR 107 - FINA approves new world-class swimming event

The FINA Bureau approved today the organisation of a new and additional swimming event format, to debut in 2019: the “FINA Champions Swim Series”. It will consist of a three-leg competition, between March and May, aimed at Olympic and World medallists, in an innovative format aimed at creating a world-class platform for elite swimming and to develop a fresh focus on the highest-level athletes in FINA events.

PR 105 - Swimming short-course World Championships is officially underway in Hangzhou (CHN)

The 14th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) kicked-off this morning, December 11, in Hangzhou, China, as 960 athletes from 178 countries are set to compete for 46 world titles from December 11-16.

PR 104 - Extraordinary Congress: Delegates largely approve new WP rules

The FINA Extraordinary Congress approved today in Hangzhou (CHN) the new Water Polo rules by a large majority of the delegates present – the proposals received 161 votes for “yes”, six for “no”, and only two “abstentions”. In front of the representatives coming from 110 National Federations, the FINA President Dr Julio C. Maglione underlined that change was necessary for the oldest team sport in the Olympic programme.
