FINA Headquarters - a little History...

By the time Robert Helmick (USA) was elected to the FINA leadership (1984-1988), the FINA Congress decided that a FINA permanent office was necessary to run the administration in a more professional way.

The inaugural office opened in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1986.

PR 52 - Budapest sets to provide background to World Junior Artistic Swimming Championships

Budapest in Hungary is about to host for the first time the FINA World Junior Artistic Swimming Championships from July 18 - 22, 2018.

The 5-day event kicks-off tomorrow at the magnificent Duna Arena, the swimming pool complex built for the FINA World Championships last year, and will bring together around 300 young artistic swimming talents representing 40 nations.

FINA 110th anniversary: President Maglione interview

On the occasion of this prestigious event, the 110th birthday of FINA, we interviewed the President, Dr Julio C. Maglione. It seems there are plenty of reasons to celebrate, and not only the anniversary. However, there are still a lot of challenges ahead: one should not forget that, even in the joyous moments.

PR 51 - Mexico and the U.S. take gold in Madrid, China continues winning streak

This weekend's FINA Diving Grand Prix in Madrid, Spain, was highlighted by the victory of Juan Celaya of Mexico in the men's 3m springboard.

The Mexican diver took gold with 421.20, while Canada's Peter Mai (409.85) and Nicolas Gracia (ESP, 408.15) secured the silver and bronze medals.

From Hotel Manchester to the FINA Headquarters in Lausanne

Had the founding fathers of FINA been still among us, how would they assess what they see today in aquatics? Would the representatives of the eight nations (Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary and Sweden) at the initial meeting of 1908 have envisaged anything like this? Perhaps in their dreams? One hundred and ten years - much longer than a lifetime, but... were all 110 years big time? Where did it all start - and where have we got in the meantime?

Celebrating 110 years of history

FINA is ready to celebrate its 110th birthday in style: on the day of that famous meeting in London in the Hotel Manchester in 1908, 19 July, all member federations are invited to a party in Lausanne.

 The core part will be the grand opening of the FINA Headquarters - as a warm-up, let's pick some great moments, heroes, milestones from the past 110 years.

 This is a random selection, a kind of appetiser, until the birthday cake arrives.

PR 50 - China clinches all golds at stake but the mixed events

Team China was in dominant form once more this weekend at the third leg of the FINA Diving Grand Prix 2018 in Bolzano, Italy (from July 6-8).

The three competition days were equally dominated by the Chinese divers as Liu Chengming and Tai Xiaohu clinched the men's springboard and platform with 456.05 and 441.30 respectively.

In the women's equivalent events, their teammates Chen Yiwen (341.50) and Zhang Xiaotong (307.00) were the best.

PR 49 – Artistic Swimming World Series 2018 concludes in Tashkent

The second edition of the newest FINA event, the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series 2018, concluded on Sunday July 1 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, after a ten-leg circuit across Europe, Asia and the Americas that started in Paris-Montreuil in March.

Mexico and Uzbekistan were the most successful teams this weekend in the Uzbek capital, clinching 8 gold medals out of 10 up for grabs.

Myrtha Pools visits Malley complex in Lausanne (SUI)

One year after opening an office in Switzerland, FINA Official Partner Myrtha Pools organised today a visit to the future Malley Aquatic Complex in Lausanne (SUI). The Italian company will provide the pools of the facility – one 50m and one 25m pool, one diving pool, and one leisure pool –, which Is scheduled to open in October 2020. It will be a much-need venue in the Olympic capital, where the FINA Headquarters are also based.

PR 48 – Montenegro stuns hosts in Budapest

Montenegro claimed the victory tonight (Saturday June 23) in Budapest (HUN), where the FINA Men's Water Polo World League Super Final 2018 was taking place since Monday June 18.

The Balkan team stunned the hosts 13-11 after a penalty shootout in a thrilling final at the brand new state-of-the-art Duna Arena, a venue that was built for the 17th FINA World Championships last summer in the Magyar capital.
